The DIY Label Printing Strategy Every Small Business Owner Needs to Know!

Are you tired of hand writing your thank you labels? Today, I’m pulling back the curtain on how to print labels at home, especially for small businesses like ours.

But before we jump in, full disclosure: Munbyn provided me with their Munbyn bluetooth thermal printer for review. And boy, do I have a lot to share!

Getting Started with the Munbyn Printer

When I unboxed this printer, the first thing that caught my eye was its no frills, minimalistic design.

Mine is white all around and black on the top and bottom. Which means that it’ll fit into pretty much any kind of theme or decor you’ve got going on in your office.

Don’t worry, if you’re not into the clean minimal look of a white printer, it’s also available in an adorable pink color.

Size Matters

The design is not just aesthetic; it’s also portable because of its small size.

I live in France and the apartments tend to be smaller than in the US. Since my office space is in my bedroom, I have a long and narrow desk.

This means that when it comes to office supplies, I gotta be picky. Plus I use a convertible desk on top of it for when I work standing up.

So I really don’t like to clutter it with a bunch of stuff. The small compact size of this label printer is great for me.

Step-by-Step Guide on How to Print DIY Labels:

  • 1. Unboxing and Accessory Check:
    • Start by taking the MUNBY Label Printer out of the box.
    • Check the accessories included in the package: quick tips, user menu, label paper (I got a few extra rolls too), printer, USB cable, power adapter, and power cord.

  • 2. Power Connection:
    • Connect the power cord to the provided power adapter.
    • Insert the round end of the power cord into the printer’s power input.
    • Connect the other end of the power cord to a power socket.

  • 3. Powering On:
    • Press the power button on the printer to turn it on.
    • Wait for the printer light to come on.
  • 4. Loading Label Paper:
    • Open the printer cover.
    • Place the label paper and make sure to adjust the holders on both sides inside the printer.
    • Close the cover securely.

  • 5. Calibrating the Paper:
    • Press and hold the calibration button (the specific button might vary based on the printer design).
    • The printer will calibrate the label paper automatically. Wait for the calibration process to complete. You should see a green light and hear a beep to let you know when it’s done.

  • 6. Connecting to Your Phone:
    • Open the Play Store on your phone, look for the Munbyn Print app, and install it.
    • Accept the authorizations to proceed.
    • Connect your printer to the app via Bluetooth. Mine is the P941B and I found it really quickly in the list.

  • 7. Printing Labels:
    • Click on the “Create button” (+) in the app, and choose your label. Click on more to see all the label options. I used the 100×150 white Shipping label and the 50×50 2-inch circle sticker labels.
    • Design your label or import the label design you want to print. I did both.
    • Click “Preview and Print”.
    • Choose the number of copies that you want to print. I suggest doing only 1 or 2 as a test print first. Then you can print a bunch more after you check it.
    • Click the “Print” button.

  • 8. Troubleshooting (Bluetooth on iPhone):
    • Note that the printer might not work via Bluetooth on all devices.
    • If you’re having trouble with Bluetooth connection on an iPhone, connect the printer using the provided USB cable.

Versatility and Connectivity

What really makes the Munbyn bluetooth label printer stand out for label printing at home is its versatility.

You can use it to print shipping labels on Etsy, to make product labels and even thank you stickers.

Its connectivity options include both USB and Bluetooth. While Windows Bluetooth support is launching soon, in the meantime, you can use the Munbyn Print App to connect with your phone like I did.

It takes less than a minute to set it up. Plus, I don’t have to worry about having more cables on my desk. Remember how I mentioned that I have a small desk?

If the Bluetooth connection doesn’t work for you, you can still opt for the trusty USB connection.

High-Resolution Printing

For those wondering how to print shipping labels at home with clarity, Munbyn offers two resolution options.

The 203dpi is perfect for basic printing needs and is available on their official site. But for more intricate designs like Amazon barcodes, the 300dpi label printer (available on Amazon) is your best bet.

Fast, Sustainable, and Efficient

Let’s talk efficiency. The Munbyn printer can whizz through your printing tasks, printing at an impressive 72 labels per minute.

What’s even more amazing is the sustainability aspect: it’s BPA free, and no ink or toner is needed. In the long run, this will save you money.

On the other hand, it only prints in black. I was expecting my butterfly design to print in color but it just filled in the other colors with black. This is not a deal breaker for me, but I thought I’d let you know in case you’re wondering.

Munbyn Thermal Labels: The Perfect Companion

When you’re printing labels at home, the label’s quality is just as crucial. The Munbyn thermal labels are BPA free, waterproof, and oil-proof.

Plus, they have a strong adhesive that peels off smoothly without leaving residue. The variety of colors and creative shapes lets you customize your design even further.
