Create or Upload Your Text
To start, open up a new canvas in Cricut Design then click on the text tool in the left-hand menu. A text box will open on your screen.

Now you can type in your word. For instance, I typed the word “Good Vibes” and want to insert some text inside of it.

I changed the font and the color to make it more fun. You can go to the Operation menu to find different fonts.

If you have Cricut Access then you can choose from a huge variety of fonts.

Edit the Word You Want to Slice
I used the shapes tool to create a rectangle, adjusted its size to make it into a thin line, and positioned it over the text.
Now you’re ready to select both the text and the shape/image. You can do this by clicking and dragging over both of them or selecting them in the layers menu on the right side of the screen.

Look for the slice tool in Cricut Design Space. It’s at the bottom of the layers panel.
Once you’ve selected both elements, click on the slice tool.
This will slice the selected elements.
After slicing, separate all the cutout pieces that you don’t need from your original text.

Now you’re ready to insert your new text into the sliced word. I chose a single layer font, typed in my new text, and adjusted its size to fit into the sliced area.
