Using the knife blade, you can cut the following thicknesses of balsa wood with a Cricut Maker:

  • 1/32”
  • 1/16”
  • 3/32”

Cricut Explore Series

These standard machines can cut balsa wood and basswood, as well as chipboard, and matboard.

Use a knife blade to cut the following thicknesses of wood with a Cricut Explore Air 2 or Explore 3:

  • Balsa – 1/16″
  • Balsa – 3/32″
  • Basswood – 1/16″

Which Cricut cuts thick wood best?

For thicker pieces of wood, you will need the Cricut Maker due to its deep-cut blade and optional rotary blade.

Pro Tip:

Make sure to use the appropriate blade for each type of wood.
