Light it up blue in honor of national autism awareness day and autism acceptance month. Having lived with an autistic family member I know how difficult it can be to gain acceptance as an autistic person in a world that simply doesn’t understand. Today I’m lighting it up blue in honor of my cousin and my aunt who works endlessly for this cause. “My son, Nortey was diagnosed with autism at age 2 years, twenty-nine years ago in the United States of America. There was very little help at that time, even in the USA. I therefore had to become a stay at home mother since there were no early intervention programs….When I returned to Ghana some fifteen years ago, searching for autism services for my son proved rather difficult……What was I to do in a country where there were no services for children with autism?” – Serwah Quaynor For more info on autism check out aactgh.org
