What are SVG cut files and SVG stores?
The abbreviation, SVG, stands for Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG). An svg is a 2-D vector image. Vector graphics can be enlarged or decreased without losing image quality. This is a good thing. It means that if you take a small svg and make it bigger to fit your craft project, the image remains sharp and clear on the final product. Cool, right?! To get the same quality from other image files, you’ll need to convert a png or jpg to svg format.
Svg stores are simply online boutiques that sell svg files. The seller is usually an artist or designer that creates an image and sells the digital file to buyers. The buyer can be a hobby crafter that wants to start a craft business, or the buyers can even be other graphic designers.

What are SVG images used for?
Svg images are used to make an end product like a birthday t-shirt, a printable activity sheet, wall art or a funny custom mug, which can be made with a Cricut or Silhouette machine. I have customers that buy my svg files to make birthday gifts for friends and family and especially items to celebrate a special occasion.
This customer used the svg to make a graduation t-shirt and added her own custom touches.

Where can you find SVG stores?
It makes sense to ask where to find good svg stores in a Facebook group or craft chat forum because most of the people there have lots of experience and know where to buy cut files from trustworthy places online.
The big name brand craft companies like Cricut and Silhouette have their own stores or digital libraries where you can find hundreds of svg files.
In the Cricut library, you can easily filter and search for the design that you like.
While it’s true that you can shop
A great place to find svg stores is the Etsy marketplace. Let’s get into how to determine a good svg shop from a not so great one.

How to find Good SVG Stores
- Check the seller reviews
- Read their FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section
- Ask for referrals in trusted forums or Facebook groups
- Send the seller a question (on Etsy, you have over 3 ways to contact a seller)
- Ask for a sample

After a few conversations, you should be able to judge whether the seller is trustworthy.
I hope these tips help you to choose an svg store when making your next purchase. What do you look for in a good online craft shop?
