Are you wondering if you can curve text on the Cricut Design Space app? Well, the short answer is…Yes, you can!  

But before you do, make sure that you are trying to do this on iOS because it doesn’t yet work on Android. 

So don’t be like me and spend five minutes looking for the text Curve option on your Android phone. 

Save yourself the trouble of searching high and low for it. As of the time of writing this post, it isn’t available yet on Android.  This feature currently only works on the iOS version of the app.

But don’t worry, once it becomes available, you’ll be the first to know!

How to Curve Text in Cricut Design Space on iPhone and iPad

You only need a few quick steps to curve text using your iPhone or an iPad.

Let’s break down the process into smaller, digestible parts.

Starting a New Project

The first step is to launch the Cricut Design Space app on your iPhone or iPad. Upon opening the app, you’ll land on the home screen.

To begin with, create a new project. This will provide you with a blank canvas, ready to be transformed with your creative ideas.

Using the Text Tool

Once you have a fresh project, you’ll see several tools on the left side of your canvas. Locate the “Text” tool. It’s usually represented with a ‘T’ or ‘A’ icon.

Tapping on this will open a text box on your canvas. This is where you will input your desired text. Remember, there’s no restriction on what you can write, it’s all up to you.

Selecting a Font

After typing your text into the box, you’ll have the chance to select the font you want to use. Cricut Access offers a vast library of fonts to pick from, each capable of giving a unique style to your project.

Choose the one that suits your project best. Keep in mind, the appearance of the curved text can dramatically change depending on the font you use.

Finding and Using the Curve Tool

Now, here’s where the fun begins. With the text selected, your next stop is the “Curve” icon. This icon, looking like a semi-circle, is located at the top of the canvas.

Tapping on this will reveal a slider which you can use to curve your text. The act of curving your text can drastically change its appearance and make it stand out.

Adjusting the Text Curvature

The slider that appears after tapping the “Curve” icon allows you to modify the curvature of your text. Dragging it left or right lets you control the curve’s intensity.

A little bit of trial and error might be required here until you achieve your desired curve.

Remember, the curvature of the text can create different visual impacts, so be sure to experiment until you find the one that suits your taste.

Manually Tweaking the Curve

In Cricut Design Space, you’re not just confined to the slider for adjusting the curve.

For those who want more precision, you can manually adjust the curve by typing in the number of degrees at the top right of the curve box.

This gives you the freedom to customize the curvature exactly as you want it. Now that’s what I call attention to detail

The Easy Way to Contour Text in Cricut Design Space

While we’re on the subject of text manipulation, let’s touch on the Contour tool in the Cricut Design Space. This feature allows you to hide parts of an image layer by eliminating unwanted cut lines.

To use the contour tool, follow these steps:

1. Begin a new project in Cricut Design Space.
2. Add a multi-layer image.
3. Ungroup the layers.
4. Select the layer where you wish to hide cut lines.
5. Click on “contour.”
6. Choose the parts to remove.
7. Close the hide contour window.
