The right time to start a craft business

You’ve probably heard that quote that says “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”

Well, that basically means that there is no perfect time to do what you want to do, but you’re better off getting started right away instead of waiting.

This also holds true for dreaming of starting a business from your craft hobby. This is even more valid when your back is against the wall and you’re strapped for cash.

That hobby of yours could be just the thing to change your financial situation for the better while helping others.

Yes, you’ll be helping others by making a special hand-made item from home that someone will cherish.

What crafts sell best during a recession?

During a recession, people are cutting back but they are also choosing to spend their money on things that mean something to them.

They want crafts that are quality items and that could also be keepsake items.

Here are some craft ideas that are trending and will continue to sell even during a recession.

  • Baby clothes
  • Health related products (masks)
  • Nostalgic crafts (quilting, friendship bracelets, pom pom crafts)
  • Food related products (3-D svg boxes for candy, cookies, cake)
  • Digital products (patterns, how-to videos, digital graphic files)
  • Personalized or monogrammed crafts
  • Stickers for planners

I hope these ideas have your wheels turning. Here are 20 ideas for crafts to do from home if you’re looking for more. Let your hobby be your way out of a recession.

If you need a way to make your items stand out from the crowd, think about adding a digital aspect to your products. There are lots of ways to turn your physical crafts into digital products.

Do you want to learn how to make your own digital graphics for your crafts, then check out my So Simple SVG Files course.
