Knowing how to weld on Cricut can be a game changer when using svg files.
Have you ever uploaded an svg quote file or text cut file to Cricut Design Space and the letters were separated? Or uploaded a graphic with lots of layers and none of them are attached in the way you need them to be?
There is a solution for this. And the answer is right inside of Design Space. The solution is to use the Weld option.

Why Use the Weld Feature in Cricut
The weld option allows you to attach letters, images, and parts of your image.
Like I mentioned earlier, you can have an image that’s spread out on several layers. You’re thinking that it would be much easier to cut out your design if certain layers were welded together.
You could use the attach feature but that would still leave you with several sections after you put it through your cutting machine.
In the image of the rose below, you can see that there are lots of layers that make up the rose. Each section is on its own layer. You can see them in the layers panel on the right.

How to Weld Images in Cricut
To weld parts of an image in Cricut, start by selecting the layers that you want to weld together.
It may help to group layers of the svg before you start welding them.
In the image below, I clicked on the pink petal that was in the lower left corner of the rose.

Then I’ll select each pink petal. To do this I need to hold down the Ctrl key and click on each layer where there is a pink petal.
If you are using a Mac, then you’ll hold down the Command key.
The Weld button will appear in the layers panel. Click Weld.

Your sections are now welded together.
